Feast of Our Lady of Carmel
MERCATO CILENTO - Sunday after 15 july Go to Village

The village is very close to the saint and for the occasion organizes a big party. The numbers of faithful from all over the cilento and also many tourists who join in pilgrimages to offer thanks and to bring in the traditional head "cente", compositions of candles and flowers shaped like a boat or crown. The feast day is celebrated votive masses in the morning, at 11 o'clock is held the mass and the term begins the great procession with the statue of the madonna in a precious brown suit, the faithful with numerous “cente” and the band (before was also brought an old picture, not anymore for the damages that could cause exposure to light). The procession starts from the church up to castagneto stopping at each door and back where you make a stop and shoot fireworks. After the procession the faithful return home or stop in the woods for lunch in the company until the evening and then watch the great concert. To conclude the festival also organizes an antiques fair with the traditional sale of onion vatolla.
