Our Lady of Carmine

In the month of july it is celebrated with full honors our lady of mount carmel in ascea and catona, nearby hamlet. You start several days before the holiday with masses and novena, the day 7 the statue of the saint from the mother church is carried in procession following an ancient and traditional route from the village to mount carmel where is the shrine dedicated to our lady. In the procession heading to the sanctuary, the faithful recite traditional songs and pay offerings, you run 3 laps around the chapel and then descend to the village. After having walked the streets of the village you come to the mother church and settles back the statue of the saint in its niche.
