And one of the oldest marian feasts in which athena reserve grand celebrations, the first records date back to the fourteenth century. According to tradition in the "rate palomma" a shepherd daily mislaid his heifer, following the flight of a dove to prostrate himself before the virgin. In the holy place it was also found a statue inside a hollow tree where a miraculous snowfall it marked the perimeter of a chapel. Following the protection during the plague of 1656 the saint was elected patron and continued to protect athena, especially his sanctuary during the earthquake of 1857 and the bombing of world war ii. The sanctuary is decorated with precious frescoes and a wooden sculpture of the eighteenth century.
