It takes on the 160th anniversary of the landing of the Renaissance hero Carlo Pisacane, who in 1857 arrived on the sapresi beaches with his troupe of three hundred men to try to reunite Italy. The company, as it is known, vanished, and Pisacane found a brutal death in the hinterland of the Policastro Gulf. Since then, though, thanks to the historical poem, Sapri Spirulatrice? Of the poet Luigi Mercantini the memory of Carlo Pisacane is indelible in the mind of all the Italians, having been his expedition the first step towards the unity of Italy.
