The roads of St. Matthew: ELEA-VELIA, CASALVELINO, RUTINO, CAPACCIO, SALERNO

The itinerary is focused on the places of the translation of the relics of St. Matteo recovered, according to the tradition, among the ruins of Velia.Moved to Casal Velino from the bishop Atanasio, they were preserved here near the actual church devoted to the Saint, before being moved to Capaccio and then to Salerno where they are still guarded.
During the translation, it is narrated that the pilgrims were stopped along the journey to Rutino, and in the place of their standstill a source mysteriously gushed out to give water to the carriers of the sacred relics.
The itinerary finishes to Salerno, in the crypt of the Cathedral of St. Matteo and it is developed on the occasion of its solemn celebrations.
