Saint Biagio, "Bishop" and "Martyr", is the patron of the throat. According to tradition, he ripped to death a child who had swallowed a fish bone, through the imposition of hands. In memory of the event and symbolically, on 3rd February is repeated the ritual "imposition" of the candles. Two crossed candles are placed on the throat of the faithful in order to intercede for its reliance on procession.
